    Job Title:              Part Time Stagecraft and Technical Theater                    

    FLSA Classification:        Exempt

    Responsible to:                  Arts Department Chair/Director of Community Outreach

    Position Summary:  Falmouth Academy is seeking a part-time stagecraft and technical theater teacher for the 2019-2020 school year.  Preferred candidates will have an academic background in technical theater or a related field, as well as experience working in a school setting.  Responsibilities include overseeing and executing all aspects of the technical and A/V needs in the Simon Center for the Arts, to include both school and community events.  Scheduling for the position is flexible, though it includes some weekends, after-school, and evening hours, depending on the calendar of events. Ideally, he or she will also teach one 70-minute class per week of Stagecraft, which integrates closely with the Drama department and its production of three annual school plays.


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Oversee all aspects of event and theatrical productions including but not limited to: safety, sets, lighting, projection, audio, staging and props

    • Teach a once-a-week class in Stagecraft (approximately 8 students)

    • Ensure that all aspects of the event comply with current life safety codes and requirements

    • Act as a primary carpenter in the scene shop

    • Supervise and direct student-staffed stage crew

    • Other duties as assigned by the Arts Chair/ Dir. Of Community Outreach

    Preferred Qualifications

    • BFA/MFA in Technical Production or Technical Direction Management (or a related field)

    • Three-years of experience in a comparable environment with a proven record of success

    • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and handle extensive standing, walking and ladder climbing.

    • Ability to remain calm and productive in difficult situations demonstrating good people skills and sense of humor.
