We did
Peter Pan, The British Musical last year. Our theatre is right beside a Reservation, and so we really didn't have an option here but to replace it.
After discussion with,
and approval from the rights holder, we ended up just simply dropping all the "Indians" from the cast, and their song.
We replaced the Mermaid's Rock plot device of Peter freeing Tiger Lily and then being rescued by the Crocodile with a chest of treasure that Smee and Starkey brought to be buried. Peter (imitating Captain Hook) had them throw it in the water. Worked great and nobody missed the old number. The other spots where Tiger Lily and the rest appear were easily written out without changing the story.
