I am currently developing courses for a middle school program that bridges or eases and inspires student's to continue taking courses in the Upper School. This is an Independent school so I have a lot of freedom. I am accustomed to teaching Upper School as I have for 32 years. I am looking for a solid rationale to separate 6th graders and then have a 7th and 8th grade class before they bridge to Upper School which offers more specific courses such as Acting Techniques, Scene Studies, Stage Craft, Stage Make Up and Design etc. Might anyone have some good suggestions for separating 6th graders into a more Creative Dramatics style of course? And then offering a more structured academic and creative dramatics approach to Theatre?
