  • 1.  The ______ in 30 minutes or less or Abridged

    Posted 03-06-2018 12:19
Some students want to work on The Bible in 30 minutes and I want to give students options for other similar scripts so we're not all working on the same thing. I'm looking for fast-past shows that have scenes that are connected in some way (so no Too Much Light). I already have Complete Works of Shakespeare and All the Great Books, and will also add in Brothers Grim Spectacularthon and Greek Mythology Olympiaganza.

So, any suggestions of what else to include?

I have a few scripts that fit this description which were originally written as one-man shows, that I've always wanted to see an ensemble take on:

Shakespeare's Histories; Ten Epic Plays at a Breakneck Pace (all ten history plays in one hour)
Breakneck Hamlet (all of Hamlet in a single hour)
Breakneck Julius Caesar (all of JC in one hour)

    Tim,

How do we get a script to read? I can't find them on your website.

    Hi John!

Send me an e-mail at tim@timmooneyrep.com, and let me know which one(s) you'd like to look at. The e-copy is the simple tech-script version of it. If you produce, you'll want to order the full book(s), each of which has lots of production/research/acting notes throughout.

    Thanks for asking!

You might try looking at the abridged scripts from Playscripts. I know they have an abridged version of both Midsummer and Twelfth Night. My kids had a lot of fun playing with the characters in both. There's also a script called "Shakespeare on the Green..." (I can't remember the rest of the title) and it's been a while since I read it, but I think it falls into what you're looking for. Playscripts has it too.

If you're okay with a drama you might look at "Chairs" from Youthplays.
