    Hi All,

What is the best and cheapest way to store wigs so that other students don't play with them?  Currently I have an open shelving unit (no doors) and they are just on the wig heads.  What can I do to "motivate" my actors not to touch them?  THANKS!

I struggle with this problem as well. One thing I've done is to move the "good" wigs to a different area (perhaps locked up with your higher quality costumes) and left "decoy" wigs out for them to grab. They still get in trouble if they are found touching the wigs (I like a bucket of random hardware that needs to be separated) but I don't have to worry about the wigs getting destroyed.

We store ours in gallon zip-loc bags and then the bags are in a sealed plastic tub in our costume storage area.

I find spraying the offenders with a water bottle, like you do with cats, works wonders. Also, having a stage manager that they fear more than they do me is an amazing tool :)
