  • 1.  Securing rights for songs for a cabaret

    Hello friends!

    My musical director and I are contemplating doing a cabaret-style performance of B'way tunes this coming fall as a fundraiser. What are the rules/expectations regarding rights for music for this type of event? Any help/guidance/direction from those who've done this type of thing before would be greatly appreciated!

    Instead of trying to put it together, I'd recommend getting the rights for a show that is already set up for this. It will also take care of the issue of getting the rights for each of the songs you want to use. There are several shows that are set up this way (Snapshots and Putting It Together are the first that come to mind) and have a simple plot to tie all of the music together.
