    Hi
I am looking for a one act play that can be performed by high school students at a district wide STEAM fair. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

    Thank you!

Most of the shows would be full length that you can cut to a one-act:
    Silent Sky by Lauren Gundersen
Great Men of Science No's. 21 and 22 (could do the first act)

David Rush has an interesting one-act called Oregon Fever. It runs about 30 minutes. "Gold Rush Fever" threatens a young romance. Reverse Hamlet by George Freek is also about 30 minutes--a comedy that turns Hamlet on its head.

"Song of Extinction" by EM Lewis (Samuel French) is a gorgeous play that engages science in its story.  A mother dies of cancer, a father struggles to rescue a bug from extinction in the Bolivian rainforest, and a biology teacher, who is a survivor of the Khmer Rouge genocide, rescues their son.  One of our most favorite productions.  Small cast. A HS edit was published in Dramatics Magazine a couple of years ago.

Let Me Hear You Whisper by Paul Zindel (who was a science teacher!) - a wonderful one act, interesting characters, good ethics of science questions. Production challenge = Dolphin in a lab tank!  Don't know if you'll be performing on a stage at this 'fair' or not. If not, it's a great critical/creative challenge for students to come up with simple solution to this challenge...projections? a wavy bluish glow offstage? stage hands holding clear plastic around the dolphin actor?

    Hi

Thank you to everyone for your ideas! The play is for a STEAM fair. It will be performed by a high school Honors Advanced Theatre Class. Families with students in elementary and middle schools attend.
