A valuable resource to investigate is
Real-World Theatre Education, which includes 8 possible theatre teaching philosophies, 19 different methods of teaching theatre and discussion of approaches to casting. Its primary focus is all the things that happen after one arrives "prepared" to teach: competition among colleagues for space - and elective students; fund raising; expectations of the school's culture; community and/or parent blowback from show (or casting) choices; managing field trips to conferences; writing college recommendations...the list goes on. Oh, yes-- how about the reality of the theatre teacher discovering they are also the tech director, whether trained for that or not?! Worth checking out.

Hello, i am currently writing my
graduate thesis around the subject of High School Acting Curriculum. For anyone who teaches High School theater what would you say are the foundations, methodologies and techniques from which you teach. Are there certain past teachers whom you follow to teach your students? Thank you!
