There's a wonderful play called "The Book of Ruth." It centers on a girl, Ruth, and her grandmother in Terezin. They get through the daily struggles by pretending to cook traditional recipes handed down through the generations. There is also a series of wonderful scenes where an older male character trades Hebrew Lessons for food. Its theme is how, through the process of teaching, both the students and the teachers find the strength to face life's horrors.
The total cast is 2 women, 3 men with another character that can be male or female. Several regional theatres have produced it, including the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta.
I shortened it and took it to competition several years ago and did well with it.
Break a leg.

I am looking to do a dramatic reading with a few students for a holocaust Memorial Day observation. Any ideas other than Anne Frank, Butterfly, or And Then They Came For Me?
