Hey All! We are doing Shrek this May and one of my biggest concerns is having enough time in the wedding scene to change Fiona in to an ogre. Have any of you done this and have any tips on how to make the transition go quickly? Thanks! ------------------------------ Nicole DePietro Drama Teacher Monroe NC ------------------------------

One of the things my school did was had a Fiona Double. While the actual Fiona was getting her makeup done quickly, we had another person stand in her place at the wedding scene until she's supposed to run off since the sun is going down. We chose to have a veil over her face that totally covered it (the actress could still see through). Fiona doesn't any lines while the fairy tale creatures are storming in and during their conversation with Farquaad. With the double, the real Fiona was able to get her makeup done in enough time that she could come back on stage for her big reveal. Hope this helps!

The Fiona double is a very common and effective trick.  We had a green dickie that Fiona put on so that we only needed to worry about makeup on the face and not the neck or chest area.  We used a watercolor-style make up that goes on very quickly and had a station prepped just in the wing.

When Fiona runs off stage, she does a very fast swap with her double before being back on by Thelonius or another guard.  We had a platform that she walked up towards, facing upstage looking at the sunset in the stained glass window (which was a projection for us).  In all the chaos caused by Faarquad downstage, we were able to have the double step off the platform and the now-green Fiona take her place with nobody paying any attention whatsoever.
