    I'd contact a group doing the show a couple of months prior or after your production, share design needs and split expenses. Here's upcoming shows in CA according to MTI (I think it's updated quarterly).

    Your biggest expense (rivaling the rental fee) is the freight; would advise concentrating on a west coast source.

    I peeked at MTW's archive and saw that they produced LSOH in 2009. You never know until you ask...
    If not Audrey II, perhaps the costumes or dentist chair, etc.

    Having worked on the sow three times, we always found anther theatre in the area to borrow or rent the puppets.

    We made one for our productions that moves really well and is now owned by a company called Prop It Up in Minnesota.  The business may be closing it's doors in the spring, so you might be able to get it for a reasonable price.

    Jay County Community Theatre, Portland, IN has a set that works well, and we rent them often.  We are not close in distance, but we are cheap!!!  We rent the set of puppets for $500 which includes training, but I'm not sure how we would get them to you easily.  The largest holds the puppeteer measuring 5' x 5' (without height of puppeteer).  If we can figure out a way to transport them that is affordable for you, we could video record the training you need.  Ship them via UPS?
