If you are a drama teacher who has the added benifit of having a tech director also assist in teaching aspects of tech classes, please respond to this or email me -

I am trying to get an idea of how many schools might be in the same situation as me- I am teacher of record, but I have a tech director who is a non-certified instructor and an expert in their field, but district will not recognize them as a teacher. This is fine, but I am now running into the problem of having to really cut back my curriculum because he is "not allowed" to have, for example, 15 kids in the shop, while I have 15 kids in the costume room. Surely there is a way around this, so we can give our kids the best possible experience, including hands-on work.
I know I am lucky to just be able to have kids and a tech class, period, but I still feel like I have a responsibility to push and challenge the kids with an effort to inspire future tech professionals.
Cheers,
S
