  • 1.  Organizing the Scene Shop

Currently, at my school, we are trying to come up with different ways to organize and re-do the scene shop. We want to make the most of the space we have by being as organized and using the space in the best possible ways.

One idea we have seen is building tall "cubbies" for the plywood and storing it inside of those allowing for you to also have storage space on top of where you keep the plywood. Space that would normally, not be utilized or even thought of as an option!

What are some creative ways you have seen people organize their shops to save space and keeps things organize? If you have pictures you would like to include, that would be wonderful!

    Thanks in advance!

I bet you could find a ton of ideas by Googling something like "garage organization." Garages are usually jam packed full of tools and bigger items, similar to a scene shop. Or even better - Pinterest. It is THE place for organization ideas. For example, this idea is just brilliant; screw the lids of jars to the bottom of a shelf to maximize your space and make smaller items more visible:

There is also an old article in Dramatics that might be useful too, it explains how to clean and inspect certain things before you find somewhere to store them:
