  • 1.  Tech Theatre: Aurora Borealis in Almost, Maine

A local community theatre group I belong to is planning to perform Almost, Maine this season. Our concern is how we are going to create a convincing Aurora Borealis on a budget in a small space. This was the #1 most-produced play in American high schools for the 11-12 school year (according to our Play Survey), so I hope someone in this group has some advice. How did you do it? Or how have you seen it done?

What we did is use small strip lights from the floor aimed up at our cyc. We used different colored gels in the unit and bounced the various colors. We borrowed the strip light units from the local university.
    Best wishes!

Love that idea with the strip lights, might use it for some moments in Into the Woods.
