We used heavy duty cardboard tubing, cut a slit into it and then made a ring that rotated on the end (with a small notch that lined up with the slit). We then cut down a paint stick to look like a knife. Using a screw and a rubber band, we inserted the paint stick into the slot and rigged it to spring out of the slot in the cardboard tubing when the section was rotated. It looked really good when it was painted and complete. We had Jud turn his back on Will and Ali to see if the "Little Wonder" works when he buys it. It worked well.

We used a piece of PVC pipe about 2" diameter x 8" long. We used a generic retractable plastic knife and placed it inside the pipe. A hole was drilled through the pipe to receive a small nail. The nail was pulled and the knife blade shot out. However, we discovered after the fact, there is no dialog actually requiring the blade to come out. Aunt Eller take sit in the knick of time.
