I am looking for diverse female monologues which are appropriate for a high school student.  These will be used for competitions and auditions for college.  Any recommendations?

How about an Anna Devere Smith piece? I personally like Fires in the Mirrors

Hi Erica! Last year, fellow Community member, Alan Strait, led an effort to build a terrific monologue resource:

Open Forum - EdTA - Educational Theatre Association

Alan built the framework and other Community members added their suggestions, here's the working document:

    Monologues

Hopefully, you'll find some great ideas here!

I have a million free monologues from published plays on my website. Well, not a million - but maybe 40 or 50.

You can find them here - they are fully downloadable and printable.

I worked with Dr Jan Powell (Artistic Director for Quill Theatre).   She said to find material in a favorite book and write your own.  You could maybe work with an English teacher and have the students get double credit for writing one
