We are going through a HS construction project right now - and our grand piano is in seriously sad shape and will be destroyed/ discarded... my understanding is that it is beyond repair and tuning... but would make a great shell for an electric keyboard, could be painted, etc. We could use that wing space for The Wizard of Oz. It usually serves as our prop table on stage right for most shows.
I'm in south central PA - I'd have to check with our music department, but last I heard, they were hoping to get rid of it soon! (The wrecking ball is coming at the end of May, one way or another!)

Look into renting or borrowing 'piano shells.'
Dueling pianist shows that travel or do gigs/events can't haul pianos with them so they have shells (many different sizes) that masque an electric keyboard.
The baby grand shells look like the real thing.

We need to turn a spinet piano into a grand. Has anyone done this before or have any great ideas or contacts. We do need a working piano and have access to the spinet. I found this online for an idea of how to build the structure. Other tips or ideas?
