Hi there. I have had great results using the play Love Letters for student monologues. The writing and emotional tone are simple and accessible for students and because the actors are reading letters to each other there are a ton of choices. More than that, though, because the play spans the lives of the characters you can really choose a selection that is in line age-wise with the play that the students are auditioning for- just grab a copy of the play and flip through it! The beginning(ish) for something like Alice.

Subject: Contemporary Comedic Monologue for HS girl
Hello, I have a HS student who is auditioning for a modern version of Alice in Wonderland and needs a contemporary comedic monologue from a published play. Any suggestions? She's a strong performer and previously played Meg in A Wrinkle in Time. Thanks in advance, Juliette
