My school will be doing a production of High School Musical this fall and auditions will be soon. What songs do you recommend for a  Bass- Baritone? What songs auditions pieces make you cringe or are just plain over done? Thanks in advance for any advice.

That’s an interesting question! I’ve been doing a bit of searching online to see if I can help with a response. One website I found has a list of bass/baritone audition songs, and it seems like it would be a good idea to select a song from a show that’s similar to High School Musical (not Cabaret, for example.) I have also included a link to a discussion with composer Stephen Schwartz. In the discussion he answers questions that may be of interest to you about your vocal range and about auditioning in general. Hope that gives you a start.
