Theses are the companies I am aware of for backdrops:
    Grosh
    Charles stewart
    Backdrops fantaskic
    Kenmark
    Theatre world
    Backdrops beautiful...
Are there any other good ones you have used?  Any companies that custom make drops from a picture? The best companies for water, rain, star effect curtains? Thanks all.

The best is Kenmark, Inc. I use them when I need drops and the quality of painting always adds to our productions.

Instead of a custom drop - think about a custom color glass gobo.

Norcostco did one for me this year - $500 - but easier to store than a drop!

    Hi,

This company printed a custom drop for us from a photo file of a "Big Sky" watercolor painting that I did for "Curtains" (Size about 22x50). We were pleased with the results and the service.

I prefer Grosh because Kenmark and some of the others are to small for my stage. I need them always to be at least 20' tall. Many of Kenmark's are 17' tall.

I would also add Tobin's Lake Studios to the list. Their inventory is less expensive to rent than many others. I would also point out that their photos do not always do their drops justice. I have never been disappointed.

I agree with the idea of using a custom gobo. Explore the idea of a steel cobo (least expensive) and color it with a colorizer or prismatic all found at Rosco.

    Break a leg!

If you're looking for star drops, rain effects, and so on, try Rose Brand (www.rosebrand.com). They specialize in fabrics and scenic materials and have done a lot with specialty drops. They also do printed drops.

I agree about Rose Brand and rain curtains.  We ordered a set this spring and got them really quickly.
