Godspell comes to mind. Also: Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Very easy to use to use females as the brothers.
A smaller show to look at: Joseph Robinette's "Dorothy Meets Alice or The Wizard of Wonderland." The lead (Judson) is a boy who's forgotten to do his homework, and the rest of the cast can be gender-flexed to all female, but there are male roles as well. The combination of known Oz & Wonderland characters is a winner. I directed a very successful community theatre run of it in 2015. I was amazed at how many unaccompanied adults came out to see it!
Judson: Male
Dorothy: Female
Alice: Female
Wicked Witch of the West: Female
Then, the rest of the fantasy characters can be either male or female, with express permission already given in the script:
Mad Hatter (This role can steal the show if properly cast)
White Rabbit
Dormouse
Scarecrow
Lion
Tin Woodsman
In the musical number "Jabberwocky," there is an opportunity to add ensemble singers and dancers as various fantasy characters.
Hope that helps!

Subject: Musical with Male Lead
Hi everyone - I'm looking for a musical with a strong male lead that's not necessarily a typical leading man. I have a very good group of girls as well, but the rest of my guys are less experienced (though I have some very talented ones). My main boy is a smallish, very young looking kid that sings and moves very well. I'd appreciate any thoughts.
