I am thinking of doing this show in the fall. Is there a non-musical version of the production or do you have to produce the show with the music? I have looked everywhere and I can only find the musical version. I am starting to think that it's not a straight play? Any thoughts?

I've seen the show twice; once off Broadway and once by the touring group. Both times there was only one song and that was the opening to act two. Perhaps because MTI holds it you're thinking it's a full musical?

The show is much more a play with music than a musical; untrained voices should be able handle it. Part of its charm is its cleverness. . .use kazoos or found instruments for the music. Above all, have FUN!!!

It has a few songs, and afaik, no version without. It's not at all a full blown "musical," though,  more of a Play with songs. You don't want to do it without them though,  they're great fun. All guys, though- only one female role. :(

MTI was offering a free perusal and download sampling of the show just a week or so ago...you can listen to that/read the book to see just what it's like for free, then make a decision?

"Peter and the Starcatcher" is a great show! We did it this winter using our adult pianist and two student percussionists for music support.   We also expanded the cast (with Disney's and MTI's encouragement) to 21, 12 women and 9 men. It was adjudicated for Festival after all of the main stage slots were filled... however EdTA has rented a theater two blocks from the Lied - the Rococo Theater (13th and P street)  for us to perform two shows on Friday of the Festival. We will also do a remount here in Edina to adjust for stage size and practice logistics.

My problem with the piece is it's all men. How did you use so many women? I'd like to do it, seen it 4 times but I have too many women. I'd be glad for any suggestions. Next year is my last year and I want to go out with a show I enjoy and the kids would enjoy.
