If you don't want to create your own original prosthetics, try using purchased ones on different areas of the face. For example, take a bulbous nose prosthetic cut in half and place a piece of it on the forehead (off-center) and another on the edge of the face. Fill it with batting to give it some support and blend the make-up with spattering to create a "normal" skin look. Something like that shouldn't be too expensive and allows for a lot of flexibility when designing the final look and shouldn't impede the actor's ability to speak.
