    Tech Question:

We run Shure Wireless mics and have to have good 9 volt batteries for each performance.  We've had good luck with Ipower professional batteries until I left them plugged in all Summer (then they died...).  So, I'm looking at getting a new set... but s/o make a comment about getting 9V rechargeables with 700mAh...  would that be helpful or better than the 520mAh we've been using?  Like longer run time or something like that?

anybody know what is up with mAh and battery expectations?

    tnx

yes the 700mAh, would be better if you have long running plays. If you are using NiCad (Nickel Cadmium) batteries, then you should upgrade to NiMH (Nickel metal Hydride). Store time is not very good for either but much worse for NiCad. With NiMH, you should never let them run completely dead or else you will ruin them with any recovery very unlikely. Most newer ones have built in buffers to keep them from running completely dry. You can leave them on the charger as long as the charger automatically turns off after the charge. You can also have them set on a timer to charge once a week (that down period may change depending on the charger). They need to be used, so run them at least a quarter way down once a month (Never tried three month runs but run them as soon as you get back). that will make them last longer. NiCad's need to be run dry, because they can suffer from "cyclic memory" issues. That is where they will learn to only charge to the point where they normally due to crystalline formations. That is not as common anymore, but they still suffer from crystalline formations that reduce charge capacity to the point of being unusable. You can reduce this by making sure not to overcharge in-between long periods of rest. That rest will kill you with NiCad. Hope that helps.
