    Hello,
We are currently working on a production of Noises Off and the props crew is looking for suggestions about creating all those sardines!  Anyone out there have something that worked for them, a just some good ideas/  We'd like to stay away from actual sardines!

    Kathy,

We performed Noises Off last year, and we used fishing lures. They worked out really well!

I had the good fortune to play Mrs. Clackett in our college production.  We used fishing lures mixed with a bit of mineral oil.  This made them just slimy enough to slide off of any plate onto one's head.  And the oil washed out easily.

Love Noises!  We used gummy fish (grape or chocolate look dark), it was fun being that an actor could eat one!

I directed this show a while back, one of my all time favorite shows.  I like to keep things as real as possible when I can, so I used real sardines.   This kids thought it was hysterical and it brought some some craziness to the show, not that it needed it, but we had fun with it.

We used pickels.  Still slimy, still got a good reaction from both audience and actors, but far less revolting to the actors.

We used fishing lures with the hooks removed. They look totally realistic and aren't slimy at all.

I think we used little cola candy bottles (flat, gummy-type, brown) for the sardines.
