Hi everyone! I'd like to share some info about a Sunday PDI Dana Taylor and I are doing on Sunday of the EdTA Conference in St. Petersburg. We did a similar PDI in NYC several years ago, and it was well attended and well received.

This will be a intensive Technical Theatre PDI that will address common tech theatre issues, like:

    1.  Why Have a Curricular Tech Theatre Program?
    2.  What are Reasons Many Teachers Avoid Curricular Tech Programs?
    3.  Assessing Your Own Skills, Your Facility, Budget, Administrative and Parental Support, Level of              Competence of Your Technicians, and Other Considerations.
    4.  What to Teach? Curricular Sequence, State Standards, Resources, Testing.
    5.  Safety and Liability
    6.  Organizing Your Tech Areas and Tech Tips
    7.  How Developing a Student Design Program Helps Build Student Ownership of the Theatre Program
    8.  Building Your After School Program Through a Strong Curricular Program
    9.  Q & A, Comments

We will be discussing topics as a group, so bring ideas and be ready to share your experiences. We will have lots of procedures and handouts you can take back to your classes and after school programs. Please bring 5 ground plans of your tech space and stage, if you have a scale ground plan. If time allows, we will work as a group to evaluate spaces and team up to find ways to make your spaces more efficient.
