    Good afternoon,

My school's Performing Arts Department is meeting to discuss criteria of our Senior Awards. We currently give awards in Dance, Music, Choral, and Drama.

I was wondering if anyone could share their criteria for any drama award they give. We have our own set of criteria but I'm wondering if I'm missing something.

Our current set of criteria (this award is only given to outgoing seniors):

-Professional demeanor and artistic integrity on stage and off

-Significant participation in the mainstage productions

-Prepared on a daily basis for performances, assignments, auditions, etc

-Preference is given for leadership positions in ITS or Drama Club

-Provides constructive, honest, and well thought out feedback and mentorship to underclass students

    Don,

We give awards using the thespian point scale as follows:

    1. Membership –and certificate at 10 points
    1. Letter / star pin at 20
    1. 2nd Star at 30
    1. 3rd Star at 40
    1. 4th Star at 50
    1. Honor Thespian 60 (honor bar for letter and tassel for Seniors)
    1. National Honor at 120 (honor bar for letter and chords and National Stole for Seniors)
    2. International Honor at 180 (honor bar for letter and International Stole for Seniors).

We also recognize one student as the “Best Thespian” for the year

We also do awards for the “Best of” which include

Acting Male (both musical and straight plays) Both best of and supporting

Acting Female (both musical and straight plays) Both best of and supporting

Tech awards (Best Stage Manager, TD, ASM, Tech, Electrician etc.)

We had to go through the board to get lettering approved – our leverage was that our state requires X number of “non sport” activities per number of sports – and as the sports folks letter – our kids (who work more hours overall) deserve lettering as much as the sports kids, and the fact that thespians are an internationally recognized honor society so modifying the point scale to give honors was a no brainer for me and the tassels chords and honor sashes at graduation cause underclassmen to ask “how can I do that?”
