Stephanie,
This past thread might be helpful to you:
Tech theatre supplies and curriculum
You should also check out USITT, they'd probably be able to give you some tips.
At Festival this past summer, some teachers in a grant workshop I helped lead shared some fantastic ideas about raising money for tech theatre supplies. It's hard to remember them all, but here are the ones that stand out:
-To avoid the chaos of direct fundraising, create a registry or wish list on Amazon with everything you need, send it out to parents, local companies, friends, colleagues, etc and they can directly buy you a hammer, drill, or maybe even those bigger items. You don't handle any money and donors know exactly what they are providing to your program.
-Talk to Lowe's, Home Depot, Ace Hardware, Wal-Mart etc. They often have small local grant programs that can be awarded to schools.
Any other ideas out there?

Subject: Theatre Equipment Funding
Does anyone have any grant information (or anything else) about funding for theatre tech equipment? Or any suggestions on how to work tech equipment into an "educational" grant? Our school's mics, soundboard, lighting etc are out of date and/or broken. The district is great about letting the public use our theatre BUT doesn't seem to keen on replacing all the worn out equipment.
Oh and did I mention, they have also made fundraising dang near impossible...?
thanks so much!
