    Why Do Actors Need
    Michael Chekhov Technique  (MCT) Now?

    Because learning MCT is FREEDOM!
    Fun!
    Rowdy
    Easy
    Entertaining
    Demanding
    Original
    Masterful

Just imagine the mental health benefits of engaging in the above!
MCT, with full-bodied, creative breath, movement and gesture, is the perfect inspiration for cultivating our artists of today.
What other approach offers that in the classroom?

Based in the natural principles of instinct and intuition found in spontaneous creative peak performances, MCT gently helps free the artist from worries, judgements, and limitations that might interfere with their self-expression. It provides creative prompts to the imagination with games and exercises to weave those impulses into clear, self-expression. From this state of loving belief in one's self-expression, whether aged 4 or 84, the students' futures are free to unfold in more joyful ways regardless of their path in life.

The National Michael Chekhov Association is the global leader in the field of training teachers, directors, actors and designers with a highly-refined, comprehensive pedagogy and compassionate mentorship program. Master teachers Lisa Dalton and Wil Kilroy have worked for over 30 years together, having co-founded NMCA with Mala Powers, executrix of the Chekhov Estate.

Michael Chekhov (1891-1955) is considered among the greatest actors of the 20th Century. Stanislavski mentored Chekhov, recommending MC as his greatest pupil. Building upon Stanislavski's system of analysis, Chekhov's extraordinary imagination emphasized this child-like creativity as a safer and more joyful path than using the everyday self and our limited and often painful experiences.  Connecting our innate gifts to deeper, archetypal sources expands the realm of art and frees that art created to uplift audience and performing artist alike. And we surely do need this now.
