Hi,
I did one of the Freaky Friday pilots last spring. I hired a former student who now builds CosPlay props for a living to design and build our hourglasses.
Strong magnets are the key. It's also important to have easy to find, but hard to see, switches for the actors to use to turn it on.
Attaching a few photos so you can see what we did. We performed in a 2400 seat house, so the size of the prop and brightness of the lamp was larger than a small house would need.

Subject: Prop for Freaky Friday
Hi all, has anyone built the two hourglasses needed for Freaky Friday? One is a "break away" prop that has to break in two. And the other has to have sand that can glow on cue. Help!!!
