Louisiana Thespians: A Festival to Remember

This past weekend I had the great pleasure of attending the Louisiana Thespian Conference. Immediately after I arrived, I was greeted with warm hugs from the State Thespian Officers who took me in and made me feel right at home. Not long after, I had the pleasure of meeting Ryan the Dog, who has become quite the festival staple. She has been coming to this conference for ten years, each time being pushed in her stroller like the queen she is.

The camaraderie at the Louisiana Thespian Festival was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. The support and encouragement that the students in this state show each other is truly spectacular. Through that support and generous spirit, Louisiana Thespians raised $420.31 for the Send a Troupe Grant to allow students to be able to attend International Thespian Festival in Lincoln, Nebraska. There was something for everyone at this festival, from workshops, to main stage shows, to individual events. There was never a dull moment. When I had the opportunity to experience the tech challenge, I was astounded to see how excited each troupe got about cheering on their friends. We all seemed like a big ole family by the end of the weekend, and I wouldn’t have had it any other way. Thank you, Louisiana Thespians, for allowing me a peek into your beautifully theatrical world. Continue on being the extremely talented, warm-hearted people that you are. I have no doubt next festival will be even better. I can’t wait to see you all again in Lincoln, Nebraska for International Thespian Festival!
