On the weekend of January 14 I had a blast attending New
Mexico Thespian Festival! I was greeted upon my arrival by the New Mexico STOs;
after a full afternoon of planning and preparation with this dedicated group of
young leaders, we ended the day with opening ceremonies, where the STOs staged
an EPIC lip sync battle. Here’s a picture from the event:
The next day was spent teaching my “Psychology of
Leadership” workshop some super hard-working troupe thespian officers, meeting
new people as we helped out throughout the day, and dancing into the night at
the festival dance. Not to mention we made $176.49 during Minute To Give It to
benefit troupes through the Send a Troupe to Festival Grant! Here’s a snapshot
of us prepping for the Minute To Give It:
The next day I had the pleasure of
teaching N.A.P.S. to some fantastic thespians; everyone had a great time, and
we left the workshop feeling more than a little refreshed! We ended festival
with a great showcase and closing ceremonies. I got to snap some pictures with
some of the NM STOs before I headed back to LA:
New Mexico Thespians’ sense of
community stayed with me throughout the weekend and truly touched me. It certainly
was a weekend to remember! Big thanks to Jeff Hall for serving as EdTA rep, as
well as to NM Chapter Director Chris Gonzales and the rest of the adult board
and the NM STO for making the event a success. Can’t wait to see everyone again
in Lincoln this summer!
