Imagine a
snowy day at Radford University. Thespians from around the state arrive with
their props, costumes, IE blacks, laptops with their technical presentations,
and supportive chaperones. They are guided by their devoted Thespian troupe directors.
They greet one another as fast friends even though they attend different
schools. They are THESPIANS.
Virginia Thespians congratulate each other on
mainstage performances and scholarship performances AND
encourage each other at the
Tech Rodeo,
attend a late night Neo-Futurism
Performance,
gather
at an Encore Reception with a DJ (otherwise known as a dance)
turn out in mass to support
the one middle school’s one act production, Hamlette
give
honest standing ovations to the main stages of Almost Maine, The Diary of
Anne Frank, and a one-woman, student-directed play Commencement, about the school shootings,
support the VA Chapter Select
Theatre of the Absurd piece, Ernest and
the Pale Moon,
cheer
for the favorites in the Womanless Beauty Pageant with proceeds going to
Broadway Cares,
buy
theatre souvenirs to support the chapter,
enjoy soft serve and fresh
cookies in the university cafeteria,
interact with the Radford
University theatre majors who are on duty for the conference,
contribute
more than700.00 to Send a Troupe kicked off by the state STOs and ITO Emma
Adams,
and
share their mission statement of why they are involved with Theatre with
me, the EdTA Rep, Gai Jones.
These talented Thespians return to their home
schools as winners inspired by their peers and successes. Ready for 2017
