No Place like Home Office: ITO Take on Cincinnati

I spent my weekend with some of my very favorite people at the Educational Theatre Association Home Office in Cincinnati, OH. I arrived Sunday afternoon with ITO Chair Alex Minton, got lunch with Ben Ochsner, then arrived at the hotel with the rest of the board, Scott Wilson and Kimberly Staples, our liaisons, and Diane Carr, our fearless leader. After catchup and story time we had a lovely dinner at Bar Louis’ with the group.

Early morning Sunday we went to explore the home office. We were lucky to have a short tour of the EdTA Home Office before we started planning the ITO leadership workshop held at Festival in Lincoln and the ITO candidate election process. Full of a Chinese food lunch, we started brainstorming in a fundraising meeting with Mr. Marion about Minute-to-Give-It, Lincoln Experience, and alumni growth information. We then returned to the hotel to film the ITO Candidate Informational Video! A ton of fun to hangout with Katie Ferchen, eat Burger King in the hotel room, and watch the Oscars!

Monday was an amazing and full day. In seven hours we: toured of the EdTA store, had advocacy chats with Mr. Jim Palmarini, toured and learned the history of the building and met with Jim Flanagan, had a development and fundraising meeting with Marion Combs, had a membership meeting with David LaFleche, and had an accounting session with Jim Huneke. For a quick lunch break we ate Panera Bread and discussed leadership with Julie Woffington. Our final meetings involved Publications, Technology, Marketingr, Junior Festival, and planning The International Thespian Festival.

After all of these meetings it was time for the ITO Photoshoot! Check out our Facebook to see those pictures. Later that evening the ever-wonderful Ben Ochsner invited us to his home for dinner (and some karaoke)!

Tuesday morning was quite chilly, but we were happy to be back at the home office again! I am so proud of the amount of work the board accomplished and am SO thankful to the EdTA for hosting us.

Are YOU ready to hit your mark? We are.
