2018 EdTA National Conference Registration Open

Registration is now open
for the 2018 EdTA National Conference taking place September 13-16 at the Grand Hyatt in Denver. The annual conference provides educators with the opportunity to meet and network with their peers during an event featuring a wide range of professional development and keynote speakers.

This year the conference will explore the profession of the theatre educator, both as teacher and artist. We Are All Artists will examine the intersection of classroom teaching and theatrical artistry, in workshops and keynotes that focus on how teachers and teaching artists can collaborate and complement one another's strengths to enrich students' theatre experiences. This year’s speakers are John Cariani, Sue Hamilton, and Franc D’Ambrosio.

John Cariani is the author of Almost, Maine, which has become one of the most frequently produced plays in the United States, with more than 2,500 productions to date, and which won the top spot as the most popular play in EdTA’s annual survey of school theatre programs for the past two years. He is also an award-winning actor appearing on Broadway in the musical The Band’s Visit.

Sue Hamilton is an award-winning director and acting teacher who teaches the craft and business of acting at her studio in Los Angeles and around the world. For over 10 years, Hamilton was creative/show director for Walt Disney Imagineering. She has directed many productions, including the GLAAD-nominated The Break Up Notebook and Jane Lynch’s Oh Sister, My Sister and as an actor, she has appeared in more than 30 productions.

Franc D’Ambrosio is best known as The Phantom in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Tony Award-winning musical The Phantom of the Opera. Affectionately known as “The Iron Man of the Mask,” D’Ambrosio was awarded the distinction of “World’s Longest-running Phantom,” with more than 2,300 performances of the lead role, D’Ambrosio’s résumé also includes the Academy Award-nominated film The Godfather III.
