Junior Thespians: more energy than a cup of coffee!

Junior Thespian festival is an experience unlike anything else. That festival will remind you why you love theatre. The students are their with full hearts ready to take in every ounce of information and joy made available to them. I hope they are endlessly thankful for their directors for giving them the chance to be in their world.

The most powerful moment of the weekend for me was the the time I was able to spend with students in my NAPS workshop. During my second session I had around 10 students. 2 of them were from one school and the remaining all went to school together. Those kids were so eager to learn how to make their story mean something. They spoke to me of the family and comfort theatre provided them. They reminded me why I am a part of what I do. Their hearts are so overwhelmed with the love theatre can provide them, and it is truly beautiful.

As we prepared to finish the weekend off with the IE Showcase, I had the joy of working with the incoming STO for Texas Thespians. I believe I speak for all EdTA staff there when I say thank you for all that you all did. We could not have achieved the work we did this weekend without you all. We would NOT have gotten $435.37 during Minute to Give It without YOU!

As I left and hit the road for home, I spoke to my mother on what a marvelous place the world is for junior thespians. The Jr Thespians really set the bar high for all future events, but I know everyone will be able to exceed expectations just like they did. It is going to be a great year for juniors, and I am so thankful to have been a part of their journey.

Next up, I will be travelling to one of my favorite places in the world, WASHINGTON D.C.! All the ITO will be up on Capitol Hill telling out story during Arts Advocacy Day. Follow me on twitter (@ITOAriH) for the best updates on all things ITO related. See y'all around!
