Deals with something in your subconscious. Tell them to review whatever it is they need to learn a few times before bed. (ANYTHING, lines, ...

I see this often with young performers. In the Speech and Debate (forensics) world we call this going on "autopilot." They seem over rehearsed and it is like they are just "saying words." I often ask them to evaluate the words and make sure they are connecting to the words they are saying. (Think ...

"And I've said this a million times, but it bears repeating: high school's the ONE CHANCE YOU GET, as an actor, to play any role you want, before the world tells you what 'type' you are. The audience is going to suspend disbelief: they're there to see their kids, whom they already love, in a play. Honor ...

Good morning, So each year, our school competes in a One Act play district competition. (Also state if we qualify) We also try and perform for our state festival if it is ready. There is a TWENTY MINUTE time limit on the play. (I know...TOUGH ONE!) Each year, I struggle to find a piece suitable for ...

Hi all! Just did a quick search for wheeled follow spots and was surprised (but not really ha!) at the cost! It's been 10+ years since we've purchased one. I'm just looking to see what is out there incase one of ours goes out. One had a nasty tumble last year, and got beat up. It was still working ...

I have recently purchased six 4x8 portable stages. I will need to purchase some type of skirting in the future. Are there any skirting that you have LOVED? Company? This may seem like a silly question, but how does it stay UP? Right how we have fabric up to cover the legs, and it is constantly falling.... ...

I've always wondered how this works also.  I understand chorus buys the sheet music just as we purchase scripts. Would that give performance rights? I've seen/heard SO many school doing reviews over the years and always wondered if they had to get rights for certain songs...etc.... ------------------------------ ...

So my LEAST favorite thing is to post cast list... I truly hate disappointing people who are so brave and come out to audition for our shows. Do any of you have a note/preamble that has very wise words to help soften the blow when posting??? ------------------------------ Erika Trahan Kaplan ...

Thank You! These were helpful! So I'm assuming I will need to do the Youth version if I need rehearsal and performance tracks? What did you do for RSC version? Has concord been OK to deal with currently? I know for a bit there were issues when they merged companies. ------------------------------ ...

Hello all, We are in the beginnings of discussing a spring show for our school. This would be the first since March of 2020. We are heavily debating between a spring musical (which we normally do) vs. a play. Any pros/cons in the time of COVID;I would love to hear it! My two biggest concerns are ...
