Nice. Thank you! I can recommend Shel's Shorts and an adult evening of entertainment with Shel Silverstien if you don't mind selective editing. I have a student who is passionate about telling the stories of survivors of gun violence. Does anyone know a play that could fit that? It has to be 30 minutes or less. Thanks! ------------------------------ Bryan Ringsted Theater Teacher Notre Dame High School CA ------------------------------

TLDR; click the link Verbose: I had to essentially start my own Parent Booster at my public school, so in order to do that I had to consider the following: 1) What did I not like doing (i.e. what did not involve supporting student actors, techs, business people, ect) 2) What could I document and pass ...

Although I agree (and have fundraised for coaches in each area before) my main issue is that (in my experience) that long jump coach works every day and gets around a $500-1000 stipend for a whole semester/season. Techs don't work for free and don't work for cheap (and shouldn't) so getting those coaches ...

Seriously....PREACH. None of this has helped my problem but I certainly feel better. CA JUST got a theater credential, and VERY few colleges offer it. I actually have a technical theater specific (production and managerial arts) CTE credential, which is cool but very few people know about it. I truly ...

Actually, a few years ago I was looking for a job and I am proficient in Tech Design and application (I taught CTE technical theater for years) but I actually could never find any programs for a teacher. Everyone just wanted a "staff" member and they paid terribly and expected people to work nights/weekends ...

I'm lucky enough to have 1.0 Fte for me AND a tech director at my site, but I'm having a horrible time finding a TD to handle audio and sets. I'm in San Jose CA. Besides edjoin and Facebook groups, any suggestions on finding a good technical director and tech teacher? They don't even need a credential ...

I'm looking for a 'cool' and more modern and accessible translation of classic Greek plays that maintains the spirit of the original. Any suggestions from the hive mind? I'm thinking about how the humor in the frogs needs a witty playwright to make it hit with a modern politically savvy audience. ...

Has anyone here ever created or given a technical theater aptitude quiz (like a "what Muppet are you quiz, but for theatrical designers)? I'm trying to find one online and not coming up with success. I'm thinking something that tests color vision, basic aesthetic sense, hearing, ect. Not skills based, ...

Have care, this is the slipperiest of slopes. What I've seen in the past: Have a summer show so it doesn't impact your season (otherwise this adult only show will take a slot in your season that YOUR students were going to use, lowering the education your kids receive). They are all adults so can ...

I've done a ton of work with 10 minute plays, 30 minute plays, and of course full length 1.5-2 hour plays, but sometimes I just want to get a single acting snapshot in 2 minutes or less. Essentially quick and dirty scene study where students must make character and blocking decisions quickly. ...

I never said thanks, but THANKS! It's always hard to find these short bits of theater and your suggestions really helped. I'm also using the same plays this year to teach how to act in the round and with a 3/4 thrust stage. ------------------------------ Bryan Ringsted San Jose CA
