We had about 16. And would have had many more because the Ancestors are such a fun part of the show. Echoing what was already said, we chose stereotype characters that would be recognizable then matched the makeup design to their character (i.e. how they died--baseball player had baseball thread design ...

This is a huge issue in our school, too. I didn't love the change to having online assignments available required when we first returned in fall 2020 (we went back fully in person), but I have kept some of those policies in place just to keep from losing my mind teaching a performance-based class when ...

We use Dramatic Publishing (I'm in Alabama and we've had to everify for several years). All we have to do is ask businesses for their W-9, forward to our accounting department, and they handle the rest. Did they give you a reason for not sending the document? Seems odd that they would no longer do that. ...

Our first time, too! My upcoming senior has gotten a couple of emails from colleges. As far as she has read, it is up to the individual colleges how quickly they will notify. Hope that helps. I know this will be an anxious week for all of us. Looking forward to a great festival week! ------ ...

100% agree with seeing Come From Away. Been to NYC three times in the past three years...and made a point to see it all three times even though I see other shows, too, while there. Can't imagine going to NYC without seeing it. And at a recent workshop, we had a swing from the cast teach a song and choreo. ...

Nice change. Allows for a full collaboration with middle school/high school programs. But I actually enjoyed having my hs students be pushed off stage (that was hard for them at first but they learned so much) and in the roles of producers. It was a great experience. Doing the same with Aladdin, Jr. ...

I always triple check. I've used kids/adults/whoever for years. I did The Phantom of the Opera last year, and it specifically states cast must be grades 9-12 and enrolled in the school doing the performance. Luckily I didn't need anyone else for casting but would have been great to have some extra local ...

Some Jr. shows restrict (I did LK last year-no high school kids), some do not (Once On This Island, Jr.-up to 18 years old). Check carefully. Don't believe it unless you read it in the contract. ------------------------------ Veronica Stephenson Teacher/Director Enterprise AL ---------------- ...

I am trying this for the first time this year also. After years of doing all-school shows and putting in 300+ extra hours, I decided I needed to give myself a break (did Lion King, Jr. in March and Phantom in April-exhausted does not begin to explain my spring!) Not sure yet how I am changing my syllabus. ...

In addition to just being surrounded by teachers who love what they do and learning from them, I'm looking forward to the stage combat workshop, getting all the cool theatre swag, and gloating to my students about getting to see Hadestown. ------------------------------ Veronica Stephenson Teacher/Director ...
