One of my favorite plays is The Last Nickel. It features two women and two puppeteers (which could be any gender). It's a one act and it does have some mild adult themes. It's very funny but also heartbreaking and a great showcase for two strong actors. ------------------------------ Ken Buswell Drama ...

Do you have an idea of the cast size you would like? Do you have access to sets and costumes (or a budget for them) or does this need to be a fairly stripped down production? There's so many good shows to choose from an this info would help narrow things down. ------------------------------ Ken Buswell ...

Bellwether by Steve Yockey. There are some great scenes with the husband and wife, and the husband and a neighbor. The play itself is great - a six year girl mysteriously disappears and the husband and wife soon become the main subjects in the eyes of the community. ------------------------------ Ken ...

I've done Much Ado twice, separated by nine years. I think setting the play in an interesting place helped win over the cast. The first production was set in a 70's era disco. We used lots of disco music between scenes and Don Pedro and his Men, dressed in white suits, entered strutting to "Staying Alive." ...

There's a fair amount of choices on amazon - just search for "battery lanterns decorative." We used the hurricane style lanterns for a show a year ago and they worked just fine. ------------------------------ Ken Buswell Drama Teacher Peachtree City, GA http://mcintoshtheater.org/ Theater kills ignorance ...

What I Did Last Summer by A.R Gurney might be worth looking into. It's a cast of 2m 4w, and set in 1945. ------------------------------ Ken Buswell Drama Teacher Peachtree City, GA http://mcintoshtheater.org/ Theater kills ignorance ------------------------------

Can you go back to the students and tell them what you've just told us? Let them know that as a teacher, you have a responsibility to make certain they get to experience a wide range of shows and styles and that this is their chance to find an issue they want address through theater. And I think it's ...

Shuddersome - Tales of Poe This might work. It's definitely creepy, it has a chorus, and there's a lot of flexibility in the cast size. ------------------------------ Ken Buswell Drama Teacher Peachtree City, GA http://mcintoshtheater.org/ Theater kills ignorance ----------------------------- ...

Women of Lockerbie could work. It's 5w 2 m, but you can easily split the lines of the two woman chorus (the author even recommends it, to get more people on stage). There's a lot to dig into and research. It's a heavy and sad play, but also so, so beautiful. The full-length runs around 70 minutes. There ...

I can't believe I forgot about one of my all-time favorite plays: The Last Nickel by Jane Shepard. A younger girl is trying to help her adult sister cope with an unknown problem. Very funny and at times, touching, harrowing and devastating. And it has a few scenes with puppets. It's great for scene work. ...

Doubt and Agnes of God would work. Not certain if Extremities and As it is in Heaven have any two person scenes. There are some good two women scenes in Silent Sky, These Shining Lives, Women of Lockerbie and Dark Road. ------------------------------ Ken Buswell Drama Teacher Peachtree City, GA htt ...

A few ones off the top of my head along with a rough synopsis: Extremities - a woman has captured the man who raped her and argues with her friends over what to do to him. Very intense As It Is in Heaven - life in an all-women's Quaker community More natural and restrained. Agnes of God - A nun is pregnant ...

A student suggested we do a project where groups film a music video. The video would tell a story instead of showing students lip-syncing. I think I would have students write up the script and write about how the story connects to the song. We would also go over different types of camera angles and shots. ...

For controlling the lights, the best cheap option is probably a Nomad system from ETC, which runs on a PC. It's $250 for educational use. It runs the same software as their boards. ------------------------------ Ken Buswell Drama Teacher Peachtree City, GA http://mcintoshtheater.org/ Theater kills ...

I've asked four or five times to alter language and to make cuts for a competition and I've never been turned down. All of them were living playwrights, though perhaps not as well known as some of the big names. The plays came from Concord, DPS and maybe Playscripts. Sometimes approval came within a ...
