I am looking for a source of theatre cubes for the classroom. I bought some several years ago and can't remember who the vendor was. I am looking for pre-made cubes, not kits or plans; from a US source not UK. Thank you

Ambitious for a high school, good for you! 1) the chandelier rigging is so theatre specific... have it land on the apron and everyone on stage make sure they are upstage of the main curtain? Or have a couple of cast members designated to "clear" the landing spot and only stopping and facing downstage ...

All of these are great resources if your kids are up to doing the work. In the end, if they are not connecting with any of these systems, encourage them to simply be very clear in their enunciation. If they slow down their rate and articulate each word, using strong consonants, they will have a clear ...

“informed by a student” that their parent says something, is not the same as the parent actually saying it. Meet with the parent. I doubt any “scalp issue” is exacerbated by a couple of hours in a wig. The student and the parent should have known that the color she chose would distract in the show ( ...

broadwaycostumes.com (make sure you use the "s" at the end of "costumes"). Excellent people to work with, very good quality costumes, all of the accessories (usually). A little pricy. Out of Chicago, so shipping from there. They even built a couple of costumes for actors of unusual size (large men dressed ...

Looking for one act plays. Large cast, serious or semi serious, nothing too goofy. For a high School student to direct her classmates in. Thanks Ron

Highly recommend Stage Decoration & Supply, Greensboro NC, 336-621-5454, for your cyc. They are very nice and will be realistic about ordering time. April is rapidly approaching, if you still have to get measurements, purchase orders, etc. There is always Rose Brand but they tend to be more expensive.  ...

A Flea In Her Ear by Feydeau... large cast, a little risqué, a little long. Two distinct sets, a drawing room and a hotel lobby with a cutaway into one of the hotel rooms. many doors...it's a farce. Is Head Dead. a recently discovered play by Mark Twain. A starving American artist in Paris fakes his ...

Wow, thank you for sharing that wonderful chart! I am headed to AZ Thespian Leadership camp this week. Do you mind if I share it with the other faculty there? ------------------------------ [Ron] [Gingerich] [Drama Teacher] [Phoenix] [AZ] ------------------------------

Thank you for this reference. Her books look great, I just ordered all three. I am starting a CTE tech program this fall, so these will be excellent references. RG ------------------------------ [Ron] [Gingerich] [Drama Teacher] [Phoenix] [AZ] ------------------------------

Everybody was so helpful in discussing my Comedy of Errors question, here’s a new one: I would like to have my advanced students (Jr’s & Sr’s) break down and analyze a script as a part of teaching directing basics this Fall. Any script title ideas? Of course it needs to be High School appropriate, and ...

I have decided to put up A Comedy of Errors next year. I am concerned however about the handling of Dromio’s “spherical like a globe” description of the maid Luce. How do I cast that role (Luce) without being hurtful to the actress? I could cast a guy and dress him up as an unattractive woman, but that ...

It is my first year at the HS level and all of this awards business. In previous years it seems to have been up to the club/troupe sponsor. I am trying to institute more specific rules, but I am behind this year. My understanding, at our school, is that cords are connected to lettering, and once they ...

Obviously you knew it was a potential problem going in, or you wouldn't have asked the student. Students are always more comfortable/willing to use swear words, be they mild or harsh. In my school, if I were to replace the student over this, they would go to the principal saying that I was denying their ...

Thank you everyone for the ideas and links. I wish I had incorporated the morgue drawer into my set design. I think I might just have him on a platform with Morticia strapping him down instead of tucking him in, maybe a neck cradle for a pillow. This is such a fun show. I am directing Addams Family and would like Pugsley’s bed to be a simulated bed of nails. Any ideas out there about how to do this safely? Thanks

We did the Deitz script this past Fall (over Halloween weekend). It was a good challenge for my actors. Script gets a little wordy from time to time. Had to change the estate mentioned in Act II from "Carfax" to another British estate, for obvious reasons. There is a shorter version online that Deitz ...
