I LOVE this script. I haven't produced it because of the language issues and my unwillingness to change anything about it. Did you keep all of the language in? If not, did the piece "work" with the reduced intensity of the language? ------------------------------ Shira Schwartz Basha High School ...

We did this version a couple of years ago and had a lot of fun with it.  https://www.concordtheatricals.com/p/61798/the-legend-of-sleepy-hollow-heimbuchferguson ------------------------------ Shira Schwartz Basha High School ------------------------------

My kids really like various Shakespeare (abridged)'s that Larry Nehring wrote. We've also had fun with Yuri Baranovsky's 11 Variations of Friar Johns Failure, Drugs Are Bad by Jonathan Rand, The end of Civilization As We Know It by Mark D. Kauffman, and several of the Don Zolidis How To Survive The End ...

Are you looking for more of a comedy or drama for the high schoolers? I don't really work with the younger kids so I don't have an immediate option for them. I can think of several for your 9-12th graders though. :) ------------------------------ Shira Schwartz Basha High School -------------- ...

Take a look at Nijinsky's Last Dance. It's a one man show set after Nijinsky is in the insane asylum and his reflections on his life. There are some portions that address sexuality so, depending on your community, you may need to choose a section that doesn't deal with this. It's a Playscripts, Inc piece, ...

I actually usually have my musical in fall. I find it had less conflicts with the choir kids (but more with band). This year we had actually planned to have our musical in April. I also had many name roles cast with seniors. I decided to let the show go entirely and start fresh next year. I, personally, ...

Hi Kristen, Does your department get together to discuss dates that work for all of you for your various needs? Within the Fine Arts department at my school the performing arts group gets together to go over potential dates for the upcoming year; and we usually do this in January. We share a google ...

Would you be able (and comfortable) making it a class on auditions and self tapes? This is something that could be done either in the classroom or, if necessary, at home.  Or maybe offer both ideas (adv acting and self taping) as a mixed class and, if things close again, adjust to making it the audition/self ...

We had a great time with Monty Python's Spamalot. While there is definitely the British humor (and all that goes with it), it goes over the heads of children. I'm in a pretty conservative area and had no issues with it.  R&H and Tams (among others) are now under Concord Theatricals. ---------- ...

I already had my rights in place for our 2021 spring show before we went into spring break (yes... I'm that person) and was waiting on finishing the paperwork for our fall show until after spring break (the show I planned to do is now being scrapped for next fall). I will be producing a musical in fall ...

Has anyone come up with a good way to collect librettos that were checked out to students? I already contacted my admin to ask how they are going to want to handle this (figuring they have so many questions I should ask now and expect a fairly lengthy response time since this isn't a priority). I'd like ...

-The Monologue Show (From Hell) by Don Zolidis. There are both a full length and one act version of this.  -Voices In Conflict by Bonnie Dickinson. This is a piece about the conflict in the middle east. It's been years since I read it but I don't recall any language issues. Just be aware of the content.  ...

We honor the seniors in 2 ways; at our Honors, Inductions and Awards night and at the final Evening of Theatre (which is a night of one acts not our main stage). The induction night is when seniors recieve their graduation honors (if earned) - and each senior had every honor named - and we fi ish the ...

I agree. Make sure admin is willing to back you and then remove honors. I've had to do this in the past (only once - the story has continued in my program for years and I havent had that level of concern about student behavior and/or choices since) but an honor is just that. It is not a right and upholding ...

This is always frustrating. There are a couple of things I do: - I always start auditions with the reminder that I am looking for a balanced CAST and that means that the "best" person might not get a part or the part they "deserve" if it won't create the overall cast I am looking for.  - It is rare ...
