Just like you wouldn't copy choreography, the design of the show should be a creative process. Sometimes things are EXPECTED a certain way, but that doesn't mean you ...

If you don't mind considering shows for younger audiences, Beat By Beat Press has some quality short musicals for children. We've used them a few times for camps and Musical Theatre classes. Invite pre-K or Kindergarten kids to come see it. I highly recommend THE JOURNEY OF THE NOBLE GNARBLE and PRESS ...

Have any of you used an Intimacy Coordinator for your high school productions? What was your experience and were the actors receptive? We are working on LOST GIRL for our competition this year and it includes some integral kissing scenes. I would like to make my actors as comfortable with these as possible. ...

There are reps assigned to specific regions. Here in GA, I have a guy named Vern I run everything through. He (or your rep from Sweetwater) will give you better pricing for schools as well. Call em up and see what they say. We just had to raise money for a travelling sound system and mics for our One ...

LITTLE WOMEN is a wonderful show, but it has a rather small cast. There's very little need for any kind of ensemble. Dancing requirements are moderate. Musically, it's a powerful show. Not terribly difficult harmonically, but challenging enough. If your kids have a good handle on music, I think they ...

While thinking of next year's One Act Competition, my student committee has requested some options that are "quirky." We performed Donald Marguelis' SHIPWRECKED a few seasons ago, and they loved it. I'm reaching out to see if anyone can recommend something along those lines - multiple roles, improvised ...

Hello Ms. Willers - I have directed LB both for the Jr. show (for middle school) and the Full production with high school. Both times, we used real dogs and everything went without a hitch. An idea that I'd like to throw out is that you might be able to partner with an animal shelter for an adoption ...

Superhero costume design - there are websites that help with this too if you can incorporate technology. I often would tie this in to cosplay techniques and have them create a mask, helmet, or other piece of "armor" using paper, tape, foam, etc. All superheroes (and supervillains for that matter) ...
