For those of you who have directed Chicago - Teen Edition. Is there a reduced orchestration available, or did you create your own? If so, could share what that looks like? I don't have the space or the budget for a 15-piece pit band! ------------------------------ Stefanie Plumley Performing Arts Chair ...

Hi Friends - like all of us, I am rebuilding a program after Covid. At the moment I have 2 strong Mezzos, 2 strong Baritones, 3 sopranos (who are not ready to carry a part) no tenors and a growing ensemble. For the first time ever in my 20-year career I am struggling to find a musical for the Spring. ...

For Boys in crisis, check out Enda Walsh's Chatroom. It's got a mixed cast but parts are not gender specific. I did a production with all boys and it worked really well. ------------------------------ Stefanie Plumley Fine and Performing Arts Chair The Webb Schools, Claremont, CA ----------------- ...

For immediate start Full time with benefits Unfortunately I find myself looking for a tech director mid-August. We are looking for an experienced individual to run our afternoon theater tech program - which includes designing and implementing lighting, sound and sets for 3 shows a year. They would ...

James - your book is fantastic! I've never thought about using it at the beginning of the year, but it makes a lot of sense so I'm going to give it a go next year! ------------------------------ Stefanie Plumley Performing Arts Chair The Webb Schools Claremont, Ca 91711 ---------------------------- ...

A mixed blessing indeed! For a couple of years I've done 2 thematically-linked One Acts. It's double the work, but provides leadership opportunities for older cast members, who can run rehearsals with one cast while you work with another. (If you want to triple your work, you can use different venues ...

For costuming, most of the dresses were made of cotton jersey so they could be washed nightly. The boys wore swimming trunks and t-shirts. I had parents donate old towels and we set up a rotation to wash costumes and towels after each performance. I also created a "warm room" in a small bathroom with ...

Speaking of things '80s - I'm also considering "Like You Like It" (Broadway Licensing) an 80s take on As You Like It. I love the music, the book is warm and funny and there are good parts for the newbies who are not yet ready to be leads.

Yes! It's so difficult to get information from them once you've sent them money. It's a curious way to run a business. I needed an invoice from them and had to repeatedly email in order to get it. (Now they're sending me an email about productions rights every other day, even though I'm not producing ...

I've also decided to take the "Feel Good" route - we all need it! I've got 17 students, and only 4 boys, so I've opted for Kate Hamill's adaptation of "Sense and Sensibility" If you have a small cast, "The Importance of Being Earnest" is always a good bet. Good luck!
