The perusal will be ready within a couple of weeks. It's crazy how much interest the play is garnering. I have already received a request for submission by one publisher! I will keep you in the loop. Hopefully it's available for production very soon! ------------------------------ K Lang ---------- ...

I ended up writing an original comedy called Alma Mater, which we produced earlier this month to rave reviews. I still have a few things to polish with the script, but the perusal should be ready soon. The play is about a rural school district that is the subject for a new PBS documentary. Unfortunately, ...

Hi, Julie.  For this year, I decided to write my own script.  The process has been taxing but I had a good idea, pitched it to the kids, and we workshopped some scenes.  They loved it and felt it was far superior to other published plays we had perused.  Now maybe they are just flattering their teacher, ...

No.  And honestly, while every vignette certainly has its own magic, I can't imagine the show being scaled back to just one act.  If you have enough cast members, the play is a director's dream when it comes to rehearsals. ------------------------------ K Lang ------------------------------

It's great to see some people in the know commenting on this.  I am working on an original play now and will be following.  Jonathan and Don, if I'm not mistaken, you wrote plays for your students or with them in mind (based on responses in other threads I've read).  Did you let the script compost for ...

We did Almost, Maine in 2017.  I think it's too soon to do it this spring but some of my high school students don't seem to care.  For those who have directed a show more than once, what is your typical window?  How soon is too soon?  Thank you. ------------------------------ K Lang ----------- ...

I really appreciate the suggestions here.  I'm not sure the Zimmerman shows are the right direction for us right now.  This is more an indictment of our audience than the quality of her shows.   I find myself super frustrated by most of the large cast options out there.  The scripts are either silly ...

I am faced with the wonderful problem of a huge and growing Drama Club in my high school.  Has anyone ever done a separate show (pre-show) concept of a series of shorter scenes or one-acts for underclassmen who don't get a big part in the primary production?  I am thinking we could present this on Thursday ...

It's that time of year again.  I am proud to say my high school program is bigger and better than ever.  We are looking for a play similar to what we have done in the past: a comedy or comedy/drama that has some literary merit.  Our past few shows are as follows: Almost, Maine Dearly Departed One ...

Jennifer, we are also doing Quaran-Teens and hope to present in January.  I also had a student write an original monologue and I wrote two others.  I will definitely check out your production.  How did you go about pre-recording?  Did students use their own devices or an extension?  Any info you have ...

Hi, everyone. We are considering She Kills Monsters Virtual Realms since we had to postpone our in person production of SKM YA edition in April. What are the opinions of SKM Virtual, and what other scripts should I be looking at?  I work with a high school group, but we typically are not interested ...

Did you end up going with this?  I just finished reading the novel again with my daughter and discovered there is a play.  Definitely a future consideration for my group as well. ------------------------------ K Lang Ticonderoga NY ------------------------------

Even though our show has been postponed, we did hire a professional fight choreographer and what a difference it has made.  I highly recommend Robert Aronowitz.  What a great dude and skilled director!  Thanks for recommending that we go with a pro everyone.  It was well worth the investment. https ...

We were supposed to open SKM YA edition on 4/3 but obviously the show has been postponed.  That said, I can't recommend this show enough for what you're going for.  I'm committed to coming in over the summer to see it to fruition.  The message is so powerful. Almost, Maine has a great scene called ...
