Congratulations on your decision to go to USITT.

You may be interested in a session being held on Saturday:

Essential Skills for Secondary Education Instructors

This workshop is aimed at secondary educators who currently, or will soon teach technical theatre coursework at their home schools and wish to expand their competencies in a variety of areas. Special attention will be paid to effective teaching strategies, both in the classroom and the shop focusing on lighting, scenery, costuming, and stage management best practices. Participants will work with industry experts and professional grade lighting equipment to develop core competencies in a variety of areas. Additional focus will be on the implementation of newer, energy saving technologies in high school theatres and preparing students and faculty/staff to to build eSET certification into their curriculum along with other recognized educational resources.

The class is still fleshing out so the topics will vary a bit but will be a good opportunity for exploring teaching technical theatre.

    Thanks,

    Dana

Welcome to USITT Josh!  You'll have a great time there.  If you have not done so, I highly recommend that you sign-up for a full access pass that will allow you to attend the workshop sessions of your choice.  The workshop sessions are a great way to connect to like-minded people.  It's always a challenge to try to pick sessions that don't overlap so you don't miss-out.  Also, definitely plan on attending the New Product Introduction and Charity Auction.  It's a wild night of chaos that brings us all together.  (Be sure to pack a bundle of 5's, 10's, and 20's so you can participate and get some of the most insane deals you'll ever see on gear and travel).  Visit the Expo floor and talk to the vendors. They are a wealth of information - just ask questions and they will overload you with answers.  Take pictures and post them to your social accounts so your friends will know what they missed by not coming.
