    Hello Friends,

I am in the process of looking at curriculum and wanted to define the skills learned in our acting classes.  So my question for this great community, what skills do you find important for your acting students to learn and become competent in throughout their time with you?  What other aspects of theater do you bring into your acting classes?  My assumption is that the acting classes are skill-based, but what repertoire do you use to get there?

Just try to refresh things.  Any information will be really helpful, and greatly appreciated.

    THANKS!!!!
    Justin

While I'm not a huge fan of Uncommon Schools' North Star division, I'd recommend reaching out to Connie Graham (cgraham@northstaracademy.org) if you're interested in this particular topic. She created a curriculum that distills performance skills down to the most rudimentary nuts and bolts, so that literally anyone can be taught how to act in a musical theatre production. If you're able to pick and choose what you like from the curriculum, I think there's a lot of be gained from the work that they've done. Since Uncommon Schools is all about sharing, I'd imagine they'd be more than willing to send you a copy of their curriculum map and instructional videos.
