  • 1.  SPAMALOT SFX patches

    Hello!
We are preparing to present SPAMALOT this summer and as we begin our preparations, our music director has some questions/concerns about the "Patch List" for Keyboard I.  All the sounds are very clearly listed in the front pages of the score (which is tremendously helpful), but securing all the sounds needed is a bit problematic at this point.

I'm curious how others who have produced this show have dealt with this very unique set of patches.

We have used  computer software programs - like RealTime Music Solutions--for previous productions and Theatrical Rights Worldwide says they are developing that technology for SPAMALOT too, but most likely not in time for our production.

Thanks for any and all perspective you can lend.

    Hi Adam,

The specific sounds for the SPAMALOT Patch List will be available for download by the summer. TRW will notify all licensees about pricing and availability as soon as it is available.

Break a leg with your production!

    Adam,

We just finished doing SPAMALOT (have fun!). You're right, the patches we get from the companies only work if you happen to have the instrument that the patches were designed for, and often that doesn't work for us.

We had some of the sounds coming from a keyboard in the pit that was controlling a computer program with sound effects while the other sounds effects we got from basic sound effect CD's (thunder, rain, fart, etc). We did use the projections for the show from Broadway Motion Design. These projections had a number of the sound effects built into them (such as the ending sequence to Act 1).
