    To any director that's produced Big Fish, 

    How did you tackle the dancing elephants in the "Closer to Her" musical number at The Calloway Circus? Considering hiring a freelancer to create an animation. I found a rental for costumes designed to look like the elephant's backside online, but unfortunately to ship it across the country is not in the budget. If anyone has any creative ideas or has the costumes for sale, please contact me. Thanks!

    Karl, my giant, did the Alabama Lambs choreography in stilts, including the booty shake. The audience laughed, no one knew it wasn't the original joke.

    Hello,

    When we did Big Fish, we cut out luan (thin plywood) in the shape of the back end of elephants and made tales out of rope.  We painted the cutouts and tails gray and had three stage crew members carry them on stage and move so that the tales swung back and forth with the music.  May not be the best answer, but it worked for us.

    We basically did what Ken did here. For some reason, I cannot find a picture of our final product, but here is one of our three elephants as a work in progress.

    We created giant elephant leg puppets to do the dance.  And the puppeteers  (four of them) danced the number

    We made them dancing bears.  It worked with the lyrics later in daffodils where Edward sings about "I've met werewolfs, giants, dancing bears..."

    We made bear costumes for 3 ensemble members, taught them the alabama lambs dance, and put them in the alabama lamb skirts.
