    Hello,
    I am looking for a replacement musical that we can start and have ready for an April 6th opening.  We were trying to do MAMMA MIA but had too few male students to make it work.  We have some ideas but still open to suggestions for a musical that is heavy on females ro gender neutral.

    I just received a perusal copy of The Lightning Thief in the mail … according to the book all characters can be any gender. 

    You could also try Seussical … Horton is really the only character that has to be played by a male.

    I did DROOD with only 3 guys in major roles and several girls and non-binary students playing guys. Lucky Stiff is hilarious and can be played with 4 guys. You may want to look at the 57th Annual Math-lete SUM-mit, which really only calls for one guy, or some TYFA like Junie B. Jones or Freckleface Strawberry. Another show that I think could be played with gender flexibility is Sing Down the Moon.

    Godspell is a good one. I've done it twice, great show. You only need two males for the roles of Jesus and John the Baptist/Judas. All the rest of the roles can be either male or female. Lots of flexibility to cater to your strong actors and strong singers. Roles can be divided up any way that works best for your cast.

    We are doing The SpongeBob Musical this year, which can be done with as few as 16 actors. I have female SpongeBob, Patrick, and Squidward. Couldn't matter less what gender the actor is...
